Koreans in Coron

Its not new that Koreans are everywhere in the Philippines! Here in Cebu and I could see them hanging out with their friends mostly in the malls and coffee shops. Well, there in Coron, you could see them with their families. They are bringing along their small kids with them. On the plane, they were the majority and even out numbered Filipinos and other nationalities. But why is it?

Well, I thought they just like the beauty of  Coron but I think I have found the answer while we were on our way to the airport.

I saw this sign infront of the building.

So I think the partnership of the 2 governments had an influence on their choice to go to Coron :)

Well, for me if I go abroad and find something like this, I would also feel secured and comfortable.

My unforgettable Shots in Coron

I am a photohobbyist and a big fan for candid photos. So on this blog, I will be sharing to you some of the photos I took during my stay in Coron.

Van Transfer from Coron Town to Busuanga Airport

Busuanga airport is a 45 minute ride from Coron proper. You have no choice but to arrange with the hotel for a transportation to the airport. Sad to say Coron don't have taxi's anywhere. Usually, you have to share with other passengers from nearby hotels. Their drivers are courteous and they don't harass tourists. Flat rate is 150 per pax.

We were lucky because we got ourselves a comfortable van.

The van has a free wifi and TV. We had some Nicki Minaj and Psy videos as we traveled on the way to the airport (LOL).

Breakfast in Coron

We are lucky because Ecolodge offers a free breakfast for their guests regardless what accommodation you have. On Fridays they have Congee, pandesal/toasted bread, butter, egg, coffee for breakfast. I am a rice person so you could imagine I am not a happy camper with these type of breakfast. Good thing though is that they proactively offered  additional free egg with our cooking preference plus the unlimited coffee. But you could alsoorder choices of tocino, longganisa, danggit, tapa, etc for a reasonable price.

On Saturdays they have rice meals like tocino, longganisa, danggit, tapa with egg. They already asked us what type meal we want a day before, so they are already prepared which ones to cook. That's how organized the hotel is.

Breakfast is yummy and I am a satisfied customer :)

Coron Eco Lodge

There is a number of hotel and pension houses around and within downtown. What attracted me most was this Coron Eco Lodge located at Calle Real. The name of the street is too personal for me because it is my family name. I must say it has influenced my choice but it doesn't end there.

I found Eco Lodge very affordable for a really cozy place. It doesn't offer you a seaview or any overlooking scenes but its proximity to a lot of stalls and restaurants around the place makes it a convenient place for you to stay.

The room we had was very clean and comfortable, the furniture and other equipment are at its best condition, which included the air conditioning unit, television set, and a hot and cold shower.
Other services included a free breakfast and what amazed me was the 24 hour unlimited coffee for free. Incredibly good for a coffee lover like me.
All of these are valued at P1898. On top of that is the excellent service they offer which every guest would always appreciate. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Also, they could help you arrange tours and transportation, which makes it even more convenient. No doubt, Eco Lodge is a strong preference for a place to stay in Coron.

Oh by the way, You can easily distinguish them by the famous symbol they use, the lizard, which I believe is a common wildlife in Palawan.

Francisco Reyes Airport (Busuanga Airport) to Coron Downtown

Transportation from the airport to Coron proper is not much of a problem. There are a lot of available v-hires which will take you to downtown in about an hour. The road may be quite rough, so make sure you take a good ride.

Good thing I did and I was really comfortable travelling on a clean and spacious van at only P 150.

Along the way, you will find these cattle grids.

Most part of the road were smooth and you can see scenic views along the way to Coron town.

Most drivers, are almost all drivers here are courteous. He  dropped us exactly at the entrance of the hotel where we stayed.

Things to bring

1. Mosquito repellent lotion

According to diveright-coron.com, mosquitoes with Malaria is not a problem on the northern islands of Palawan in which Busuanga is a part of.
But eventhough, its not bad if we will take extra precaution about mosquitoes.
Also, if possible please refrain from asking locals about Malaria, its quiet a sensitive topic here in Coron.

2. Underwater Camera or any enclosure/underwater camera/cellphone housing.
Believe me, you will regret it if you cant photograph the corals while snorkeling here in Coron. Its an amazing world out there and you have to capture it!

I really regret that I did not purchase this Aquapac waterproof  housing for my phone.
You can buy this at:

Just make sure that if you purchase a waterproof housing for your PDA or phones, it should be SUBMERSIBLE.

Here are other submersible items.

3. Rent or buy your own snorkeling gears.

I love snorkeling so much so I see to it that I have my own snorkeling set.
I got myself a Mares googles and snorkel. I think they are the best ones in the market.
You can view their products here: Mares Snorkeling Set
Here in Coron, you can rent snorkeling set for a good price.

4. Water
To enjoy Coron, you must do "some" trekking. Trust  me you should bring water with you!
